Assistive Technology Interview with Easterseals
Easterseals Crossroads hosts Ubique Tech
This week, HabilUp is featured as an assistive technology on the latest podcast by Easterseals Crossroads!
Assistive Technology Update
Every week, Easterseals Crossroads releases the Easterseals Crossroads Assistive Technology Update. The podcast broadcasts up-to-date information regarding the latest developments in the field of technology designed to assist people with disabilities and special needs.
Ubique Tech is thrilled to have had the opportunity to share about our assistive technology device with their listeners! The fun, easy-to-use, and adaptable device is designed to assist individuals with physical disabilities in the US and abroad.
What is assistive technology?
According to the World Health Organization, assistive technology (AT) is a term covering the systems and services related to the delivery of assistive products and services. AT maintains or improves an individual’s functioning and independence, thereby promoting their well-being.
Access to and the use of AT lessens the need for formal health services and long-term caregiving. It enables individuals to live independent, healthy and dignified lives and participate in everyday activities. Without AT, people are frequently excluded from society and kept in poverty. This directly increases the impact of disability on the individual, families, and society.
Assistive products come in many forms and include items such as wheelchairs, prostheses, hearing aids, and many more. Worldwide, more than 1 billion people are in need of at least 1 assistive product. Yet, today, only 1 in 10 people have access to assistive products. This need is predicted to double by 2030.
